And just like that, 2008 is like a dirty deed -- done (dirt cheap).

And while 2009's ball drops, Scott Stantis has flown the coop, leaving his moldy detritus to stink up the funny pages.

And by the time he's back in his shack, hacking the hack, producing new strips while his pen goes whack-whack, your humble Shrubville correspondents will winding things down, fondly reviewing the Best Of; laughing about the good times; crying, arms draped around each other, about the sad times. The sweet will be bitter and the bitter will be fleet.

And then the Russians will completely take over.
