Nascar Dads Love War For Oil - Just Ask John McCain

TODAY'S STRIP

Credit where it's due - it's not a bad strip today. I even kinda like that Depends is Winslow's biggest sponsor. Better than going with a cheap Viagra joke.

Now I'm looking forward to two weeks from now, when Stantis goes after McCain for basically saying that we went to war in Iraq over oil. Sure the mainstream media is trying to cover for him (as the anchor on MSNBC this morning helpfully pointed out, he was referring to the first Gulf War - even though McCain said that's not what he meant), but this is one of those comments - like saying we should stay in Iraq for a 100 years - that isn't going to go away. Straight talk from the maverick!

I wonder if Depends is St. McCain's biggest sponsor too...

Yeah, it'd be horrible if T.R. said "we'll be staying in Cuba for the next 100 years." Or Truman said "we'll be staying in Japan for the next 100 years." (Only 37 more to go!)

Do you really want to use Cuba as an example? Let's see...one group threatens us (not al Qaeda, but Spain), there's a "terrorist attack" that spurs us into war (9/11 / USS Maine), and we attack a country that hadn't attacked us (Iraq/Cuba, which while a Spanish colony had no intention of attacking us). Do you think if the American people really knew the true story behind the Maine that we would have gone to war with Spain? Oh, wait - history repeated itself, and Yellow Journalism is alive and well in John McCain's America as the mainstream media marched us into war with Saddam. At least Japan really attacked us.
