You're Right: It IS Ironic
Like rain on your wedding day or a free ride when you've already paid or Winslow playing with the world's slowest yo-yo or Carmen when she's walking with her curled toes, it is ironic that a poll came out about polling in which irony won. By a landslide.
It all makes perfect sense.
Well, all except the fact that Carmen is inexplicably stooped over when walking by Winslow.

I thought only liberals suffered from having a black fly in their Chardonnay, because only liberals drank Chardonnay. What am I missing?

I just noticed that Carmen does not have any ears. I mean her hair is pulled back in pigtails, so it's not like her hair would be covering up her ears. I suppose she may grow ears some day, like how she mysteriously grew some eyebrows in the last panel
