Goodbye, Tucker - And Good Riddance
So let me get this straight: Scott Stantis just spent a week telling us that Winslow spent thousands of dollars to have sex with Geraldine Ferraro. Is that about right?
While I appreciate Stantis trying to combine two of the bigger political stories of the month - Ferraro's racist comments and Spitzer's hot hooker - it was done in such a ham-fisted, unfunny way that it negates any points he might have scored for trying. Add in that he missed a perfect opportunity to slam McCain for being shameless for not resigning after the Keating Five scandal (thanks Annie), and it's clear that Stantis was in way over his head.
Today is a literal love letter to Tucker Carlson. MSNBC finally got around to canceling Tucker's low-rated talk show and Stantis/Carmen miss him something awful. Of course the day after it was announced Tucker was still all over MSNBC's regular newscasts - as an "expert" of all things - so I'm not sure what she's whining about.
My favorite part of today's strip: Carmen's suggestion that Tucker's show was "unfairly" canceled. Ha! Check out these ratings - Tucker has had the worst rated show on MSNBC for ages, usually taking in half of what Chris Matthews pulls and a third of Olbermann's numbers. To confirm that it really was because of the presence of that obnoxious punk, the show that replaced it starring David Gregory outperformed Tucker's old show by 35% its first week. I love it when Republicans like Stantis whine about things being "unfair." What's unfair is that Tucker Carlson stayed on the air months longer than he should have precisely because he's a conservative tool.
Which is the same reason why Prickly City is still on the comics page. Enjoy it while you can, Stantis - hopefully you'll be on the unemployment line standing next to Tucker soon.
Comments
Well, along with the Keating Five dealie, McCain also started sleeping with his current wife while he was married to his former wife. Despite what Scottie likes to think about his fellow Republicans, they are not all moral exemplars.
