Tortured; Logic
Credit where it's due: Scott Stantis does what John McCain, George W. Bush, and the rest of the Republican party refuse to do - he admits that waterboarding is torture.
Unfortunately he's doing it in the comics section of the newspaper and couldn't be bothered with figuring out a way to make it humorous. Granted torture isn't something to make light of, but why spend a week on it if you don't have a funny way to make a serious point? Isn't that what Stantis is paid to do? Heck, anybody could have written and drawn today's strip - and I mean anybody. Are we supposed to forgive Stantis for the fact it isn't funny because he's a Republican admitting something that isn't politically popular? Should he be applauded because he's standing against his party and NOT endorsing torture? I don't think so.
It's sad to think that Carmen had to be waterboarded before she admitted it was torture. Heck, John McCain really was tortured and he refuses to make it illegal because he thinks it'll make him look weak on terror or something. Is that what it's going to take to make Republicans change their minds on something? Force them to experience it before they understand why they're wrong on certain issues? If that's the case then Carmen's going to have a long year ahead of her when she's diagnosed with a disease and is denied healthcare coverage because of that pre-existing condition or any other number of issues where Carmen/Stantis/Republicans don't seem to understand why lefties think the way they do.
At least Stantis has seen the light on one issue. Too bad he still isn't funny. Or a good writer. Or a good artist.

Halle-freaking-lleujah.
Winslow's right, Carmen's wrong, and she admits it. No, it wasn't funny or clever, but at least Stantis finally admits the obvious. I hate to say it, but this puts him ahead of the average poster on the Free Republic forums.
