Paul Bunion and Winston Corn In "Feets O'Fury"

TODAY'S STRIP

So I haven't seen the strip in something like 5 days. It's refreshing, in its own little way, to know that you can leave and come back in at some later point to the same old reliable strip and not miss a damn thing. Or miss the damn thing, either.

So we have Winston in a costume, naturally, aspiring to some job opening that he will try but ultimately fail to acquire. Gone is the fabled necktie of yore, which allowed him access to top-level employment, and in comes a suit of corn. Although, of course, if he's truly deeply serious about taking on Erik Estrada or Bill Richardson as his running mate, he may wish to be careful around them, because they'll shuck him, throw him into a bowl, pour butter, mayo and salt on him, and eat him up like the elote-lovin' dirty, dirty Mexicans-who-all-look-alike that they are. Because, as the conventional wisdom goes: in this country, first you get the corn, then you get the power, then you get the women...Subsection(b): and then the women cook the corn.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Stantis is letting some teenage intern with no artistic ability draw the strip. The "art" here is atrocious, and any newspaper that runs it should be embarrassed.

Nice elote reference, Sacki.
Too bad it's 20 below wind chill out, or I'd go rustle up a push cart for lunch.

"Corn is dumb."
Winston is corn.
Therefore Winston is dumb.

I think I'm supposed to stop reading Prickly City. My newspaper stopped carrying PC awhile ago, and now Yahoo is still displaying the comics from 12/31. That must be a sign.

Sacki,
You write about the most random things, but sometimes it turns out to be one of the most clever posts in Shrubville. This one and "Pizza Pie" are a case in point. Kudos.

Furnace,
As I wrote earlier, Stantis's own characters look unnaturally crude here (especially in the first panel) and the "corn cob" is so fat it looks like a pineapple. An ugly pineapple. (Is Winslow pandering to Hawaii too?)

FredN,
I've seen elote stands in the American Southwest, but never in "Prickly City." This begs the question: Has Stantis ever even been to the American Southwest?

Antenora,
Winston, as we have seen in the past, is so dumb that it's a miracle that he's still alive. The guy walked a few steps and thought he was in Iowa.

John,
Gives Stantis three strikes. He got cancelled by your paper, that's one. He got cancelled by Yahoo!, that's two. If he gets cancelled by the syndicate, go man go!

I'll see you all tomorrow for the raucous caucus...

Aww Crap. Yahoo started upating the comics again.
