Introducing The Handjob According To...

TODAY'S STRIP

Don't deny, accuse or cry.
Wish me luck wishing well,
A wishing well of crocodile tears.

What a horrible strip, in terms of comedic timing at the very least. Not to mention the lack of continuity...since when has Winslow been denying and accusing? Crying, I'll give him that. (See last week.)

Edwards has dropped out and Giuliani plans to. Go read Edwards's speech. Along with some of Obama's speeches I would rank this among the best that we have heard this campaign.

If you want comedy, go read Giuliani's concession speech from Florida. "My opponent, John McCain, is a good man. Oh yeah, and I guess there's Mitt Romney too...he's a good man. Both good men. And Huckabee. Let's give a round of applause to my opponents! ...And Ron Paul."

...And now Giuliani is out. No surprise there. And yes, he endorsed McCain.

"John McCain is the most qualified candidate to be the next commander in chief of the United States. He is an American hero. ...It is appropriate to make this announcement here at the [Ronald] Reagan library because President Reagan’s leadership remains and inspiration both for John McCain and myself.” -- Rudy Giuliani

I haven't done this in a while:

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #1,008,073

Do you think Stantits is one of those authors that constantly looks up his Amazon rank? I sure hope so. Talk about demoralizing.

Wow, that got me looking into the sales rank, and what it means in actual numbers of books sold. Check this out! He's selling 3 copies every 500 days!!! Awesome!

10 650

100 100

1000 13

10,000 2.2 (11 copies every 5 days)

100,000 0.2 (1 copy every 5 days)

He's truly one in a million (eight-thousand and seventy-three). Only in America.

By comparison, here are some other (higher) sales ranks:

22,774 "Scientific Progress Goes 'Boink': A Calvin and Hobbes Collection" by Bill Watterson (1991)
49,996 "A Right to be Hostile: The Boondocks Treasury" by Aaron McGruder (2003)
74,464 "Heckuva Job Bushie: A Doonesbury Book" by G.B. Trudeau (2006)
96,657 "The Big Book of Hell" by Matt Groening (1990)
361,037 "Toons for Our Times: A Bloom County Book of Heavy Metal Rump 'N Roll" by Berkely Breathed (1984)
435,176 "Right on Time, Andy Capp" by Reg Smyth (1978)
550,121 "Candorville: Thank God For the Culture Clash" by Darrin Bell (2005)
595,460 "My Name Is Funky... and I'm an Alcoholic" by Tom Batiuk (2007)
713,866 "LuAnn: Curves Ahead" by Greg Evans (2003)
788,031 "B.C on the Rocks" by Johnny Hart (1982)

That's right. He's being out-sold by a B.C. collection from 1982!

"That's right. He's being out-sold by a B.C. collection from 1982!"

John, that's embarrassing for Stantis but it's nice to know that more people have the sense to buy a book filled with intelligent, clever satire than this crap.

Chris, you aren't referring to B.C. by Johnny Hart as "intelligent clever satire", are you? Johnny Hart was one of the most backwards, religious-nutzo's in the cartooning world, I believe.

FredN.,
Whoops! No, I certainly am not calling "B.C." intelligent and clever satire. My mind put together the initials B.C. and the 1980s decade and instantly thought John was referring to the "Bloom County" collection on the list, even though it was published in 1984.

Bloom County was intelligent clever satire. B.C., especially after the 1970s, was just overly religious unfunny tripe. On this we can all agree. Please disregard my screwup there.
