I'm Trying To Use The Phone

Sure, Winslow, the new phone is what's next, but do you know "Who's Now?"
As good reader, and hopefully well reader (but not well digger), John pointed out yesterday, "Remember about 2 or 3 weeks ago when the iPhone was big news and Stantis managed to have one timely comic strip? This is the long-awaited follow up." Hey, a follow-up to a follow-up! Fanstantic!
Fanstantic. That's the new word on the street used as an antonym for 'fantastic' by the way. Fantastic = excellent, wonderful; fanstantic = poor, unpleasant, terrible.
I give today's strip an F --- for Fanstantic.
Comments
As you may have heard, cartoonist Doug Marlette passed away recently when he was in a car crash. He was pretty conservative as an editorial cartoonist, and he also had a comic strip, "Kudzu," which will end in August rather than be passed on to a different cartoonist.
"Kudzu," while its creator had conservative viewpoints, managed to portray life in a small Southern town without getting to political or conservative. It could deliver subtle commentary, unlike a certain S. Stantis. Marlette's work was excellent (his editorial cartoons were great, too) and he will be missed.
The reason that I bring this up is today's PC strip. More of "technology is taking over our lives and is bad." This stuff is a horrible excuse for a strip. Interestingly, this week's "Kudzu" series pertains to a similar subject, with Nasal undergoing technology withdrawal after a power failure.
I would like you to look at that series (four strips thus far) and this "Prickly City" strip. Here we have two conservative editorial cartoonists with their own comic strips, one set in a small Southern town, the other in a small Southwestern town. I really genuinely like these Kudzu strips, and it's not just because Marlette just died. The reason is, he truly knew how to be funny.
Unlike a certain S. Stantis.
