Cease & Desist

TODAY'S STRIP

Oh what a capper to a horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible week.

Monday: Ill-timed REPEAT of lame-ass steroid joke

Tuesday: Another REPEAT (see below)

Wednesday: Dennis Kucinich is nutty.

Thursday: Hillary Clinton is a witch.

Friday: Barack Obama is handsome, charismatic, and doesn't know what he's talking about.

In the three-year run of stupid, horrible, asinine, idiotic, error-riddled, fucked-up, ham-handed, ludicrous, my-left-foot-drawn, punch-the-corn-flakes-box-inducing, bang-your-head-against-the-wall-until-the-pain-stops, won't-even-line-your-birdcage-with Prickly City strips, this has got to be the worst week on record.

Dear Comic Strip Section Editors Across the Nation:

Stop the fucking madness.

Best regards,

Shrubville

It follows, see - Winslow is pro-war, so to him, the only viable candidate is also pro-war. Obama has that problematic public opposition to it way back when he was just a lowly University of Chicago law school professor and state senator, so therefore, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Because every smart person can see what a rousing success this war has been!

Ditto to what CJo said.

Also: in two weeks, I predict that Stantis will do a strip on how a married man who cheats on his wife will be forced to resign because he abused his position to get a raise for his girlfriend.

Oh, wait, that won't happen, because Wolfowitz is a conservative! Stantis can only make fun of liberals who have moral lapses, because by definition, only liberals have moral lapses.

In happier news, the LA Times is restoring Candorville.

Notice he doesn't address any issues as he attempts to slam the Democratic candidates. Kucinich is nutty. Clinton is a witch. Obama doesn't know what he is talking about. On what subject, who knows? No need to provide any examples. Anyway, since when does not knowing what ou are talking about prevent you from getting elected president?
What are the odds that Winslow talks about John Edwards hair tomorrow?

I think what's so depressing is that this strip COULD be really funny. There's plenty of stuff all politicians do, left and right, that a smart comic strip artist could have fun with based on these characters. Can you imagine if for the next month Winslow really did run a campaign for president, and each week he had to deal with a variation on whatever scandal is plaguing the real candidates? Winslow getting a $400 haircut so he looks just like John Edwards could be fun. Winslow dressing in drag and having to explain it to conservative voters has potential. But nope - Stantis makes as little effort as possible, and instead we get "Obama doesn't know what he's talking about." Brilliant insight there, Stantis. I'm starting to think he's actually trying to suck at this point.

I agree with you, Furnace. Winslow's "pro-war" position could have been funny too. The absurdity of an insane little coyote showing up at a political debate screaming about how we need to bomb Canada has comedic potential, but instead Stantis went for cheap jokes-stale cheap jokes.
