THIS...IS...STANTIS!!!

TODAY'S STRIP

So, do you think Stantis watched "300" two weeks ago?

What's shocking about today's strip is - *gasp* - it's topical! Stantis actually flipped through his calendar and realized that Tax Day is upon us again. I'm speechless. He was able to combine the most popular movie of the year so far AND something actually happening this week and create a decent strip. Bravo, Stantis. Bravo.

Now, do you think you can start doing this EVERY DAY? You know, like most working stiffs? We'd appreciate it. And I'm sure your bosses would too.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you...
A WEEK IN PRICKLY CITY!
Monday -- Stantis pays tribute to MLB's Opening Day 2007... a week later. Why bother? Well, how else could he rip off a sight gag from Charles Schulz?
Tuesday -- Another baseball strip, only this time the punchline makes zero sense. If anyone knows why "I'm more of an offensive player..." is funny, tell me.
Wednesday -- Stantis actually begins to admit that there are flaws among the Republicans these days? Can't be...
Thursday -- Or maybe it CAN! Stantis basically says that he doesn't know where he stands as a Republican anymore! Shocking! ...Oh, and he uses the same picture as yesterday, with very slight variation.
Friday -- Stantis repeats the same joke about Carmen's lack of political gravity, only now there are elephants in the picture. How clever. He must be so proud of himself. Ugh.
Saturday -- Reagan, Goldwater, and Buckley bring Carmen back down to the ground. Never mind that they had a lot of conflicting ideologies, but at least Carmen now knows where she stands. Somehow.
Sunday -- Whoa! Stantis references Tax Day, and he does it on time too! And it looks like he's referencing the movie "300" as well. Good work, Stantis. Only problem: the characters in "300" are Greek warriors, not Vikings. Oh well, good attempt at trying to make "Prickly City" hip.

What a week.

Furnace, I think you gave Stantis too much credit for referencing "300". I agree with Chris that those look more like Vikings. I think he is just referencing a "What's in your wallet?" commercial.

The Vikings are probably carrying the treasure chests back to the people, because, you know, "The tax cuts worked!"
