It's too bad we don't know where in the Southwest Prickly City is located, but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in New Mexico. Somewhere where it's going to snow today. Oops. Sorry Stantis. Maybe if you had an original joke about subsidies it would have worked. Sucks to be you.

He's never said exactly where, but he did mention Arizona in one podcast. I figured it was supposed to be near the city of Winslow (shows up in the top left of your map). ...where it's currently snowing.

In fairness to Scottie, and God how I hate to use that phrase, snow isn't unusual in most of New Mexico, including Albuquerque, because the state is so mountainous. (Think Taos and Angel Fire.)

And really, you all should learn more about New Mexico and Bill Richardson.

Okay, off my soap box: the thing is that Scottie keeps the location vague, just as he keeps Carmen's ethnicity and Winslow's politics vague. By keeping everything up in the air, he can make whatever feeble attempt at a joke he wants to make without being hemmed in by 20th century notions of character, setting, plot, and theme.

Watching the news it looks like most of New Mexico is going to get hit so I don't feel too bad about ripping Stantis on it. But Annie's right - Stantis doesn't ever want to commit to anything, and when he does and he's wrong he just flip flops. Just like John McCain.
