Somewhere Weird Al is Weeping...

Listen, I'm no Yankovic myself, but Scott's attempt today has to be the clunkiest song parody this side of...say... THIS Banana Boat Song parody.
But hey, let's give Stantis some credit. He managed to get a somewhat current event (January 8) into the paper (January 23) before we all forgot about it.
Though I suppose this is all part of the campaign to NEVER FORGET about it. We're all supposed to breeze over wire-tapping and Abramoff, but god-fucking-forbid we forget about the Traitorous Pinko Leftist Hollywood Mouthpiece Who Dared Speak His Opinion.
That's how elections are won. I bet $10 in '08 we'll see a photoshopped picture of Barack Obama with Caracas Harry.

What's sad: Tim Russert has interviewed dozens of guests since Belafonte made the comment, and who's the first guy he asked about it this past Sunday: Barrak Obama. You may not THINK you're a racist Tim, but it doesn't mean you're not.
As for Belafonte: it's sad he has to go to another country to express his freedom of speech - lord knows if he said that here he'd be on the hit list like those Quakers in Florida.

Actually, Russert interviewed 4 guests (on Meet The Press) between the time Belafonte made those remarks and Obama's appearance: L. Paul Bremer, Taylor Branch, John McWhorter, and Marian Wright Edelman. If he truly wished to be racist, he could've lumped in MLK in with that nutjob Belafonte, given 3 chances like that.
